MT3D Transport Observation Package

I used the Grid Approach to construct a simulation in MT3D and now I want to add some observation points in the model. I know that there is a way you can do this if you are using the conceptual approach. However, considering the fact that I have 100 layers in this simulation, I decided not to use the conceptual approach. So, my question is:

1) Is there any way I can add observation points using the Grid Approach?

2) If not, is there a way I can convert the output .CON file into an ASCII format so that I can pick out the points I needed. The current .CON file is in binary format and I cannot use the postprocessor (pm.exe) since I am lacking the model configuration file (.cnf) for some reason.

Thanks!
