Question about 2dm format

Recommended Posts

I couldn't find any answer to my question on http://www.xmswiki.com/xms/SMS:2D_Mesh_Files_%28*.2dm%29

Therefore, i ask here in the forum.

In the .2dm-format, every e.g. linear triangular element has three nodes.

The format for such an element is then "E3T id n1 n2 n3 matid " where ni are the nodes.

The question is: Are these nodes (also for quadrilaterals) in an ordered manner, clock- or counterclockwise?

It seems to me that the nodes are ordered in a certain sense for quadrilaterals (triangles are always kind of ordered) but i dont know whether there is a "global ordering sense", like clock- or counterclockwise.
