How to model perched conditions with MODFLOW

I am working on a site that has transient/perched water above the saturated zone. Is this possible in MODFLOW? I have read about the UZF package, but am unfamiliar with it. Any guidance/ideas/thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

Hi bjacoby

I havnt used the UZF package before but after looking at the tutorial it seems that it would not be able to model perched conditions - "The UZF package is meant to replace the RCH and EVT packages and provides additional functionality"

So it does not model the degree of saturation in the unsat zone using soil water retention curves etc - dont know why they even call it unsat zone flow.....

Is the ground water table much deeper than the shallow perched conditions?

Regards Johan
