Bruce Campbell
Hi -- A MODFLOW model I have is not picking up flow observations that I have in the conceptual model. I have two stream gages where I have calculated baseflow data that I have set up as ARC Groups. The flow observations are not coming through the MF2PEST setup process and are not included in the PEST control file. I have uploaded the files to your FTP site - nc_reach1-A_MODFLOW.zip
Bill Dolinar
The problem is that MODFLOW does not support flow observations using the SFR package. It would be great it if it did. It has been brought up before, it would probably be good if someone brought it up again to the MODFLOW authors.
Bruce Campbell
I'll pass along to Rich Niswonger and see what he says.
Bruce Campbell
Rich says he uses the MODFLOW Gage Package for observations with the SFR2 package. Is it possible to do this in GMS?
Alan Lemon
You can use the GAGE package in GMS to manually see what the model is producing and compare to field time series data but I don't know of a way to feed that information to PEST. Bruce Campbell
Hi Alan -- Asked Rich about this and here's his response:Steve Westenbroek's TSProc is used to post-process the GAGE output. It is the TSProc output that I subsequently feed to PEST via an instruction file. So, I'm attaching the TSProc output and the corresponding PEST instruction file for reading it, but know that the same thing can and is routinely done with the SFR2 GAGE output. You will need to change .zipp to .zipHe sent a file that I can send to you, also.
Alan Lemon
Thanks for the update. We will add this to our feature requests for a future version of GMS.
