Importing Calibrated Head Values from an old modflow file into GMS

Recommended Posts

I recently have imported a model (calibrated in 1995) into GMS. The model was created in a software other than GMS. The model is running, but I am having cells going dry in the top layers. I want to import the calibrated starting head file from the old software, but can't figure out how to do that.

Any ideas?

My guess is that the hds file is a binary head file (you can verify that by trying to load it into a text editor and it will look like nonsense).

Copy the hds file to import.hed and create another file in the same directory called import.mfn. Then go to the MODFLOW | Read Solution command and select import.mfn. This should import the hds file if it is a binary file.
