Can auto zoom-out on mesh creation be turned off

My work flow is severely disrupted everytime by the automatic zoom-out that happens everytime I generate a mesh from my map coverages. I want to select 6 local polygons, generate the grid to take a look, but suddenly when I do that I get the from-outer-space view of the whole grid.

Is this something that can be changed in a setting or preference? My group loses a ton of time trying to remember and zoom back to our current extent. It also causes us to fear and avoid what should be a very reasonable thing to do every 5-6 polygons.

The default we prefer is "view extent doesn't change". A compromise (or enhancement?) would be "zoom out only if the user selected all the polygons, not if the user hand-picked polygons to mesh". Even just a "zoom to selection" would be helpful... we'll take whatever is available.

Thanks,

Eli

I'm sorry for the hassle this is generating.

I have added your request to our feature request list. In the meantime, you can use shift-z to return the previous zoom. I realize this isn't as convenient to being able to not do it in the first place but makes it easy to return to exactly the same location.

FYI - The beta version of SMS does have a "zoom to selection" as well. Although, I would prefer that it not happen in the first place as you suggest (1st choice but not available) or use shift-z(2nd choice available).
