save as coastline file

Hello, after simplifying a coastline (from raw data from coastline extractor), I wish to export as a new 'coast' file. The coverage is set to 'adcirc' and I am given the 'save as --> coast' file type option. However, when I select this option, nothing happens. No file is saved. Any tips? It is key that I am able to export a new x,y (lon, lat) file from my manipulated coastline.

Thanks,

D.

Dave,

I have tried to replicate this problem, but the *.cst is written out correctly for me. Perhaps we are using different versions/build of SMS, or following different steps. I am using SMS 10.1.11 (Build date of Jan 24 2011 - See "Help | About" to find out the version and build you are using). The steps I am taking are below:

1. Open the "shinfinal.sms" ADCIRC tutorial output project

2. Select "File | Save As..."

3. Change the "Save as type:" to "Coastline Files (*.cst)"

4. Enter a file name and select "Save"

A *.cst file is saved out with the x,y coordinates of the coastline.

Is your coastline arc specified as "Mainland" in the "ADCIRC Arc/Nodestring Attributes" window, which is accessed by double clicking on the coastline arc?

I have 10.0.11. I follow the exact steps below (not on shins, though; on my own data file). I took coastline extractor data, put it into 'coast' file format, read it in, cleaned it up, and I now want to export. The steps below result in no file being saved at all.

Dave,

Could you upload your files to our FTP site by following the steps below so we can look into the problem?

1. Create a new folder with a unique name on your computer and copy all of your project files into it. (please zip up the folder)

2. Open windows explorer (My Computer).

3. Enter "ftp://pubftp.aquaveo.com" in the address bar.

4. (If the "Log On As" dialog box appears) check the box labeled "Log on anonymously" and click "Log On".

5. Copy the folder with your project files in it into the "incoming" folder.

6. Send an e-mail to support@aquaveo.com telling us the name of the folder you uploaded and exact steps taken to produce the problem.

*Please help us stay organized by putting all of your files in a single folder before you upload them. After you upload them, you will not be able to edit them.

Regards,

Todd
