Will GMS split wells across multiple layers if the screen spans and associate the appropriate percentage to each? If so, how does it split it? by screen length per layer? per wet screen length per layer? Does it also consider hydraulic conductivity and transmissivity in the calculation?

Hi, I have built 3D solids using borehole data of quite complex geology. It has so many layers of soil types. However, I do not feel that I should assign layers for each soil type because it will make too many layers to analyze. Should I?. Also, some soil layers do not run across the entire domain. I was thinking these solids should be mapped to a 3D grid with three or four layers with similar hydrogeological characteristics. Can someone please guide me how I should map these data to a 3D grid modflow grid with few layers? Am I going in the proper direction in modeling this? Thank you, Lalith

I have created materials in a GMS model, and assigned the materials to different modflow layers. The material characteristics such as hydraulic conductivity that I have assigned to each material do not seem to be mapped to the layers in the modflow model. If I assign Hk and Hv within each layer's attribute table it works correctly, but when I assign materials to a layer it does not seem to work. Am I doing something wrong?

Hi, I have a GMS modflow model with multiple layers (9 layers). I used about 200 observed heads for calibration. These observed head values are in different layers. I want to check how successful the calibration is in each layer. Currently, all observed heads are visible and it is hard to recognize what head is at what layer. Is there a way that I can see the observed heads that are in a selected layer only? I tried orthogonal mode on but it still shows all observed heads regardless of the active layer in orthogonal mode. This model is in GMS version 9.0. Thank you, Lalith
