I am running a transient MODFLOW scenario using the NWT solver with UPW. We are doing significant dewatering in this scenario and the water is drawn down through several layers (necessary due to geology). The MODPATh model will run for a while and then crash due to "cell thickness is negative in" some cell. I believe particles are entering cells where the CHD and NWT have the water table below the bottom of the cell which is causing MODPATH to crash. Is there any way to fix this? I already have MOODFLOW outputting head at the end of every timestep and the IPHDRY set to a positive number. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi all, I am not a constant user of GMS so I am often re-learning data processing techniques. I am looking for help with a procedure to accomplish the following objective. I have a 10 layer, steady state flow model of a coastal plain. The top layer predominantly represents a confining clay layer (material 1 in brown) with several small discontinuous regions where the underlying aquifer is exposed (material 2 in green) and some inactive regions (in red). Regions where the underlying aquifer are exposed have specified values for recharge (using polygon feature objects derived from shapefile). Other BC's are defined on the top layer: (CHD for ocean - in cyan; rivers in blue; drains appearing only in material 2 - not shown). I would like to specify a constant head in layer 1 equal to (TOP-1m) for every cell where clay is present but not interfere with other BCs subject to the following constraints: If (TOP -1) > BOT, Constant head = TOP - 1 Else Constant head = BOT + (TOP - BOT) * 0.1 Any help on a process for accomplishing this task would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Ted

I set up a SEAWAT model for my model to account salt intrusion. My model is quite similar to the Aquaveo tutorial except I did not have an initial concentration and head values like in the tutorial. I used my steady state modflow heads as the initial heads and made up salt concentrations along coastline. However, my model runs very quickly and does not produce heads or concentrations and provides following message. Only difference in my model vs tutorial one is technically my model run in Modflow-NWT. Is this a problem? Would you please let me know? In addition my model has concentrations in mg/L (I set it up this way because there are other concentrations to be run in here later).

I attached the screen shot of the ModelMuse. As I try to run the ModelMuse with MODFLOW-NWT, ModelMuse won't run because of access violation. It says that Program failed to terminate normally. Anyone knows how to fix this?
