Importing a spectrum to BOUSS2D

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am using SMS V10.1.5, I am trying to use the output spectrum of ST-WAVE as boundary condition of BOUSS2d, the extension of spectrum in ST-WAVE is *.ENG and the required extension in BOUSS 2D is '*.DWS'. Can you please let me know how can I convert the ENG file to DWS?

Best regards,

Hamid

Since the STWAVE spectra is in local space (as defined by the grid orientation) and the BOUSS2D spectra is in meteorological space, the two don't line up with each other.

I have been in contact with both model developers. I was hopeful that the STWAVE people would move to a global spectra definition, but they have not.

SMS does not include an interpolation routine to convert a spectra in this way. You can generate the spectra for either model from either convention. If the STWAVE "eng" file is a full plane spectra, and your local grid orientation is at an even 5 degree increment, the values just need to be reorded.

This feature is being considered for implementation into SMS.
