Hi - We are experiencing the same problem. It may be caused by some negative depth due to a long wave with a height suficiently large to make some cells 'dry'. We're not sure but we're definitely looking for some feedback on that one. - John

In general, this type of error is due to:

  • Dry cells
  • Steep slopes
  • Too large of elements (courant number violation)
  • Too large of timestep
  • A bug in the numeric engine (BOUSS-2D)

You can try sending your files to tech support. They can help you determine whether the issue is a bug in the numerical model (BOUSS-2D) or if there is something you can change in your model to prevent it. If necessary, they can forward model problems on to the numerical model (BOUSS-2D) developers.
