RMA2/RMA4 update availabe?

Hi!

I'm using rma2 v4.56 and rma4 v4.54 with sms9.0. Both models have their expiration date set to Nov. 1st.. Will there be updates of the models available any time soon. I haven't checked the models that come with sms10.0 or 10.1. Would they have different expiration dates?

Once a new version of SMS is released, the old versions are no longer updated. You should be able to use the RMA2 and RMA4 model executable distributed with SMS 10.0 or 10.1 with SMS 9.0.

Hi again!

I downloaded versions 10.0.11 and 10.1.0 beta but both include rma2,rma4 and gfgen45 executables that are set to expire Nov. 1st this year (see attached picture). I've already checked with Barbara Donnell at ERDC, but they don't support other than army personell.

The RMA2 and RMA4 model executables are compiled and maintained by ERDC. Aquaveo does not have the source code, so we cannot create a new executable with a different expiration date. Once the current version expires (in this case in November), ERDC makes a new executable available.

I hate to get back on this subject but I really couldn't afford a break in model use at the turn of the month. As I see it, you can only deliver new executables when publishing new SMS versions. On the other hand, ERDC says in its web page

Are the TABS models available for download?

The TABS-MD models are not individually distributed from our ERDC Website. The TABS-MD numerical models, namely RMA2, RMA4, SED2D, etc., (pc executable) are available with the installation of the Surface Water Modeling System (SMS) graphical user interface. Univeristies can apply for a discount when making a SMS purchase. There are several private distrubiton centers (EMS-i is one of them), just search 'SMS' on the web.

Is it true that all SMS users, modeling with tabs family (if there are such oddities besides me), need to wait till next release of SMS vX? I sure hope not. Boy, would I like to see a downloadable rma in your site!

If you download and install the latest version of SMS 10.1 (full installation) you will have a new version of the TABS models that expires 11-1-2012.

You made my day (well, actually night,as it's past Fr. 11 pm. here). I downloaded it on my home pc and -behold - it worked. Now, on Monday I'll do the same on my office pc and then - kudos to you. Still, a doubt remains - if no SMS update would have been present (like in august, when I started the thread), would the aquisition of new TABS models have been impossible? I wish you could come up with some agreement on updates with ERDC, even between SMS updates. And yes, I really hope to use the models, even after 2012.

I'm not sure why ERDC has chosen to add an expiration to their models. I suppose it is to "force" users to use the most updated version of the model.
