Several pressure files in scatter data

Hi,

I have several pressure files in scatter data corresponding each file to 1 day of the year (instead of having 1 file with the pressure information for all the year). In ADCIRC model control, when selecting NWS=5 and the pressure dataset, I can only select 1 pressure file, i.e. corresponding to 1 day. How can I overcome this? The idea is to use the pressure information along the time/days in my simulation, which occurs for several days.

Is it mandatory to put all the pressure data (in scatter) in 1 file?

The support in SMS for several of the wind formats that ADCIRC allows is not fully there. This is an area we are trying to enhance. The approach we have taken to date is to allow the user to specify through the SMS interface the type of wind file that exists and then the user provides the fort.22 to conform to the option. We have been adding support for more of the options inside of the interface. In these situations, SMS will create the appropriate fort.22 file.

The NWS=5 option uses velocity and pressure at each node in the ADCIRC mesh. So your pressure files need to have pressures at the locations of the nodes in the fort.14 or grid file. Is that what you have? Secondly, you must have a single dataset with multiple timesteps (one per day if that is your increment). We have had requests to allow you to concatenate multiple datasets to create a series of timesteps. That seems like a logical tool and I would like to get it added to the data set toolbox, but it isn't there right now. That means you will need to get the datasets combined outside of SMS. What format are your pressure files in? I may be able to give you steps to get them combined if I know the format you are starting with.

Thank you Alan for your prompt reply.

On fact I use to interpolate the pressure and wind values to the mesh. Both wind and pressure files are .nc files.

Alan, I just added the file Amy_nc_files.zip to your ftp site. It contains 4 .nc files. Each file has the daily information about 2 variables: sea level pressure and wind data (u and v). This is another thing I have to overcome since the files I used in the past used to have those variables in separate files, which were easier to insert in the appropriate field at the ADCIRC model control.
