Floodplain delineation map in ArcGIS

Recommended Posts

Hi Oscar,

It depends on the type/format of data you are trying to export, but you can normally export shapefiles by selecting "File | Save As", changing the "Save as type:" to "Shapefiles (*.shp)", select a name and location, then select "Save". You can export an image of the current display by following the same steps, except you would change the "Save as type:" option to "JPEG Image File (*.jpg;*.jpeg)".

Oscar, before exporting your boundaries as a shapefile, you want to convert it to a polygon in the Map module by 1) changing the flood depth contours to display only the 0.1-foot (or meter) contour and then 2) convert this contour to a coverage using the Tins | Convert | TIN Contours->Feature menu command. After doing this, clean up your flood boundary polygon, build polygons and save the polygon as a shapefile.

Regards,

Chris
