  1. Dear GMS users, I have prepared and entered my borehole data into the GMS to generate stratigraphy of my study area. I have also created and filled required cross sections using GMS. Now, I want to snap the cross sections to the top surface of the study area using TIN. But, I have faced the error as “Top Arc elevations on cross section (s): …. have been changed to prevent intersection of arcs” and GMS cannot finish the process. I stuck in this step and any idea / comments would be really appreciated. Thank you very much.
  2. Hello, I have a student license for ArcGIS 10.1 and am using the demo version AHGW 3.3.0. I am trying to teach myself as much as I can using the tutorials but just ran into a roadblock. I successfully completed the "Working with Borehold Data" tutorial this weekend. However, I am now working on the "Creating GeoRasters from Borehole Data" tutorial and just tried to run BoreholeLog table to Points command and got the following error: "This tool requires a Subsurface Analyst license. To activate the license select the Help > Register command in the Groundwater Analyst, MODFLOW Analyst, or Subsurface Analyst Toolbars. Could not create Point features from the BoreholeLog table. Failed to execute (BoreholeLogTableToPoints). Failed at Mon Nov 25 21:07:22 2013 (Elapsed Time: 3.00 seconds) This tool requires a Subsurface Analyst license. We have number of geohydrology students that I think could benefit from learning and using this tool, but no one I know at school has a copy. I was really hoping to use AHGW in my dissertation research and hope to find funding to purchase a full license, but for now I'm stuck. Thanks, Stephanie
  3. Hi, I'm new to ArcGIS and AHGW, as well as LiDAR data. I have a student license for ArcGIS 10.1, and downloaded the demo version of AHGW 3.3.0. I recently downloaded and mosaicked several LiDAR scenes in ArcMap for a mountaintop mine site in eastern KY. I want to work with this DEM in ArcGIS AHGW to generate subsurface stratigraphy, pre- and post-mining volume calculations, etc.. I'm working my way through the AHGW tutorials. However, when I display the DEM in ArcScene it isn't in 3D. Does anyone know what I need to do to the image to use it in ArcScene, e.g., turn it into a TIN or something else? I'm working on a project for my graduate-level spatial analysis class which is due in 10 days (long story...data I was trying to procure for my site never materialized so I'm down to the wire). Any help would be greatly appreciated since everyone's gone home for the holidays! I've attached a .jpg of the LiDAR data I mosaicked for my mine site. I'm excited to be a part of this community and will likely have a ton of questions. I appreciate your assistance and patience as I teach myself how to use the software. Thanks, Stephanie
